What do we believe?
As a church we see our purpose as growing in our love for the Lord, our love for each other, and our love for those who don’t yet know Jesus as Lord.
Our mission is to reach people for Jesus and help his followers grow to be like him. We take our Statement of Faith from the Evangelical Alliance. Visit our ‘about us’ page for more information.
The Alpha Course is your opportunity to come along and talk about the meaning of life. The course invites people to ask and discuss life’s big questions… What about suffering? Who is this Jesus? Can we trust the Bible?
Alpha offers space away from life’s busy and often very hectic schedule to think about the things that really matter, and one of the great things about it is that no-one is ever put under any pressure. People are free to agree or to disagree.
We’ll meet in The Hub at the front of Testwood Baptist Church for soup & dessert first, followed by a presentation & then discussed in small groups.
You’re invited to join 4 discussion sessions to explore this question. One of the features of our culture is that, faced with so much choice, we’re getting skilled at making speedy decisions. After just a cursory glance we press the ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ button. Some recent research about what the British public think about Jesus found that 40% of people don’t realise Jesus was a person who actually lived. It seems likely that many people have never really had the opportunity to examine the evidence before they’ve come to that conclusion, and have never had the opportunity to actually discover what Jesus said.
Life lines is a 4 session opportunity to interact with the words of Jesus and ask, ‘What if what Jesus said was true?’.
It’s designed as a conversation starter. The aim is to prompt questions. This course won’t provide all the answers – it’s intended as a starting point! But we hope to spark an interest & invite people to follow this up by joining the next Alpha course.
Please let us know if you’re interested in joining a group, and we’ll get in touch to let you know more information.
